Unglazed terracotta planter with a built in water reservoir in the middle.
The outside is baked twice to make it stronger and the reservoir baked only once to keep it porous.
Fill outside ring with soil and plants, fill middle reservoir with water.
Water will move through porous clay as soil and plants need it.
